Impactful strategies developed & implementeD

Carmen transformed how we work: helping us be more agile, better grow and mobilise our supporters, diversify our digital channels to drive supporter and income growth. She developed our digital team structure and helped us hire a brilliant Head of Digital!
— Gabi Field, Director of Fundraising & Communication

The Challenge

Refuge wanted to grow their supporter base, digital fundraising and develop their mobilisation programme to increase the impact of their vital services.

Delivered

I developed and embedded their first digital mobilisation and transformation strategy working with leadership and teams over a one year period.

Results

In that first year the programme attracted an additional 70,000 new supporters, who took 150,000 actions and raised over a quarter of a million pounds - a 53% increase from the same period the previous year for this project.

Alongside this I helped Refuge develop their first digital function and hire their first digital leadership role.

Transformation means holistic change

Change across people, ways of working and technology. It doesn’t work if you do only one

Systemic issues are tackled successfully with holistic change.

Carmen moved us from siloed teams to a collaborative and really energised department, smashing our targets and raising previously unseen amounts of cash and support through our digital channels.
— Libby Giffin Carino, Head of Digital

The Challenge

Achieve previously missed public engagement and income targets without changes in resources - headcount and media spend, by creating efficiencies.

Delivered

I audited the work, developed and embedded a new digital strategy over a one year period, focussed on ongoing optimisation, innovation and agile ways of working, working closely with the team.

Results

This work resulted in turning a -12% yoy dip to a 70% yoy increase in donors, an increase of 44% yoy in digital income from new digital donors, worth £700,000, and a 90% retention rate for new regular givers.

The 5-year income from those recruited in this period was valued at £3.2million. These results were previously unseen, exceeding all digital income and supporter targets, whilst engaging new audiences.

The new ways of working motivated the team measurably and allowed a smooth transition to home working during the pandemic.
